When DefenseHorizon publishes something questioning motives and most importantly posing questions, we do that not because “we are in the wizard business” or “our magic sphere tells us to do so”, but out of what is deducted from a Country’s Geostrategic projections, utilizing pure logic and some historical motifs as a “compass”. That’s exactly what happened when we published the article on Turkey, questioning the state’s aggressive attitude towards its neighbors, since it has no reason as a state to be aggressive.

What happened though in the United Nations exceeded our most far-fetched expectations. Prime Minister Erdogan called Zionism: “A crime against humanity”. To be specific his exact words were: “Just like Zionism, anti-Semitism and fascism, it becomes unavoidable that Islamophobia must be regarded as a crime against humanity”. There is a saying which goes as: “In the house of a hanged man don’t talk about ropes” and it fits like a glove to Turkey, which is one of the countries that should not comment on the phrase “crime against humanity”. To be honest, those who are responsible for its state entity and its Neo-Ottoman aspirations should be the ones who have to be considered as having committed “crimes against humanity”. Where would we start from? The Armenian genocide, which as a matter of fact the French parliament acknowledged? The Greek Minor Asia slaughter of the Greeks living in Turkey and the subsequent confiscation of their properties? The invasion of Cyprus and the usage of POWs (Prisoners of War) as “guinea pigs” in Ankara (those who survived the slaughter) in order to test “Biological agents”? If you ask President Obama of course he will reply: “Sometimes it’s not so bad to say, ‘I don’t know” If somebody asks you something about where does the president stand on Cyprus, and you say I’m not sure, but here is what — I promise you I’ll find out an answer and we’ll make sure to call you back”. There was no “callback” or whatsoever, though, in 1974 and the relatives who live still seek their loved ones, who were captured, but they are most probably deceased, sacrificed in order to boost “Turkey’s scientific progress”, the same State whose insolent leader dares to speak today on “Crimes against humanity”. We do wonder, isn’t the usage of “biologically mutated” insects against the Kurds a crime against humanity? Overall, is the Kurdish issue and the genocide of innocent people not a “crime against humanity”? 

See, we still have some questions, not regarding a potential turn of Turkey towards the road of the Human Rights, but in terms of what the Western World is planning to do with a state, which is ready to behave like a bull in a China shop once again. Like the human organism, there are some states in politics, which if you just remove them, there will be no repercussions whatsoever, just like Turkey for example and the human appendix.

“I strongly condemn the comparison that the Turkish prime minister drew between Zionism and fascism,” Netanyahu commented today Thursday. “I had thought that such dark and libelous comments were a thing of the past”. Well apparently “Benjamin” was wrong. The only body who stood up for Israel and condemned those “savage and uncivilized” statements was the UN watch, after the puppet-general secretary Ban Ki Moon stood by Erdogan idle.

“We remind secretary-general Ban Ki-moon that his predecessor Kofi Annan recognized that the UN’s 1975 Zionism-is-racism resolution was an expression of anti-Semitism, and he welcomed its repeal,” UN Watch stated. In its condemnation of Erdogan’s remarks which it called “Ahmedinejad-style pronouncements,” it added that the remarks “will only strengthen the belief that his government is hewing to a confrontational stance, and fundamentally unwilling to end its four-year-old feud with Israel.”

After the Mavi-Marmara incidents, when a ship full of “activists” (the provocateurs who were actually killed were MIT, Turkish secret services agents) tried to break the Gaza blockade, in a disgusting and politically motivated move in order Turkey to stand out as a “leader” among the Arabs. During this incident Israeli commandos boarded the ship, true while it still was on International Waters and were attacked by the provocateurs. The commandos opened fire and that’s when hell broke loose and the long lasted alliance between Israel and Turkey came to an end. Erdogan demanded that Netanyahu should apologize, something that Netanyahu never did, as it would be foolish to apologize over a bunch of provocateurs who dared the Israeli commandos to open fire.

Recently Israel tried once more to ease the tensions and restart the relations with Turkey, although this would be a huge mistake. Nevertheless the Israelis approved the delivery of ESM equipments to be installed on the Turkish air force’s new Boeing 737 airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) system aircraft. 

And that’s the “appreciation” they got back, by people who do not take such moves as gestures of good will, but as gestures of weakness. As commented on the article we published on Turkey, the Country exhibits a rather self-destructive attitude, even though it was transformed from a political “nothing” to a Geopolitical “something”, but the arrogant attitude of Turkish politicians may cost them severely in the not so distant future.
